Consent patch creator critical of sex ed video

Last week the Federal Government released a new sex education campaign including a video depicting how people should approach consent by screening a milkshake analogy.

Just days later, after facing intense ridicule from both sides of parliament and members of the public, the video was removed. 

The videos showed a young woman smashing ice-cream, milk and sprinkles into a young man’s face, despite him telling her no. 

In addition to milkshake consent, a video comparing coercive control to shark infested waters was also taken down. 

Greater Brisbane artist Emily Readman, the 21-year-old creator of the ‘consent patch’ said the videos weren’t a good tool for the education sector.
