The Local Fire ban was extended to midnight on Tuesday, December 31.

Mount French National Park’s closure was extended to Friday, January 3 and Mount Barney was closed until further notice from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.

However, Mount Greville and Mount Edwards have been reopened to the public.

People driving on the roads have been asked to keep an eye out for hazards on the road.

The dry conditions mean there is plenty of wildlife feeding on the side of the road as well as farmers grazing their livestock.

Back burning at the bushfire at Carneys Creek has cut off some of the fire fronts leaving the blaze burning on the western side on Friday night.

The large bushfire was cut off on the northern end of the Head Road towards Frances Creek on Thursday.

The fire is now heading back up Frances Creek towards the south-west.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife were also conducting a back burn from Mount Wilson to the south-west of the front in an effort to contain the remaining front.

Carneys Creek Road is now closed between Fletcher Road and Hardcastle Road and residents who have returned home have been asked by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to remain vigilant.

Back burning will continue through the night.
