Carney’s Creek bushfire may be contained by tonight
1 min read

All fire fronts in the Carney’s Creek bushfire are expected to be burning within containment lines by late today or this evening.

Boonah Rural Fires Group Officer, Trevor Turner, was in a truck on The Head Road this morning when he spoke with the Guardian.

“The fire has come across to The Head Road in two places where there’s burnt out areas on the other side,” he reported.

“That part of the fire is now contained but there are more rocks and trees down on the road, so it will remain closed.

“It’s now a cool burn. We’ll be mopping up here and monitoring the containment lines throughout the day.”

Carney’s Creek Road between Fletcher Road and Hardcastle Road also remains closed.

Back burning along containment lines will also continue there today.

“All going well, all the fire fronts should be tied off by tonight if not sooner.”
