Relentless rain spoils Bushrangers victory bid
1 min read

A WEEK of daily downpours proved too much for Coronation Park to absorb, forcing the latest Fassifern Bushrangers home cricket match to be called off.

Bushrangers captain Grant Harvey was disappointed the scheduled game against Strollers Mallarra was unable to be played on a saturated field at Boonah.

More than 150mm was received over the week leading up to Saturday, including another big storm on Friday night.

“The field just couldn’t take it in the end,” the captain said.

A victory over Mallara would have been helpful for the Bushrangers after they lost their opening match to Strollers White in the Post-Christmas competition.

“In these short seasons, you need to get points out of most games,” Harvey said.

The Bushrangers will need to refocus on their next match against Brothers in Ipswich on Saturday.

Harvey likes the “Super Six’’ home and away format where the teams from the Pre-Christmas competition are split into Third and Fourth Grade series for the new year.

The Bushrangers are among the top six teams battling for honours in Third Grade after making the Pre-Christmas grand final.

“It’s as fair as any competition,’’ Harvey said.
