Mega townhouse development still on the books for Beaudesert after 14 years
1 min read

THE developer of a 90-townhouse residential estate in Beaudesert has been given until May this year to begin construction.

The proposal to construct the two-storey, three bedroom townhouses on a four hectare property at 4603 Beaudesert Nerang Road was first proposed to the Beaudesert Shire Council in November 2007.

A year later it was approved by the newly formed Scenic Rim Regional Council as a result of the amalgamation of the Beaudesert and Boonah Shire Councils.

Details of the project are not published on the Regional Council’s website, presumably because the original application was archived at some stage during the last 15 years.

A month following the granting of the development permit, negotiations with Council officers, led to changes in the conditions set on the development permit.

The approval was only to remain in place for four years.

Developer, Michael Delport as director and owner of the Kamalex Place Trust, sought and was granted an extension of ‘currency for the development permit’ for a further two years in 2012.

Further time extensions were granted by Council officers in 2014 (2years); 2016 (2 years); 2018 (2 years) and 2020 (1 year).

On November 26 last year, another extension of time was applied for by Mr Delport and he was given six months to begin work on the project.
