Rescue 500 and Polair helicopter crews have rescued an injured bushwalker who fell a ’significant distance’ while hiking on Mt Maroon.
The 30-year-old man was an inexperienced hiker
Sen Const Josh Piper from Kalbar Police said the helicopter crews attempted to winch the man out but the terrain initially made it too hard.
SES, QPS and QFES vertical rescue were tasked to rescue the 30-year-old man but on a second attempt in the difficult terrain, Rescue 500 winched the man out.
The inexperienced hiker fell at around 3.40pm and was treated for a broken wrist.
Police ask that anyone planning to go bushwalking to first check the route, go prepared and allow sufficient time to complete the hike in daylight hours.
