An Ipswich woman in her 70s tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday night.
The supervisor at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre in Wacol became the eighth active case of coronavirus in Queensland.
The detention centre was placed on lockdown as 127 youth and 500 staff are being tested.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said contact tracing has been made easier as the facility had not been allowing visitors because of concerns with the two young women that had returned from Victoria with the virus.
“That’s a whole lot of contact tracing that doesn’t have to happen because those strict measures were put in place at the centre.”
