On the side of the Limestone Centre, two workers appear behind bevelled glass.
Painted by artist Fintan Magee the mural is in partnership with Brisbane Street Art and Ipswich festivals.
Magee said the inspiration behind the painting was honouring those that worked through the coronavirus lockdown.
“I had rail workers in mind when painting the mural, the workers are a huge part of the Ipswich economy. I wanted to speak on essential workers during lockdown and do something that memorialised them in some way,” he said.
Although now based in Sydney, Magee grew up in Brisbane and has a relationship to Ipswich through his father.
“My father taught at Bundamba Tafe and the old Ipswich Art School, so there’s a connection to Ipswich for me,” he said.
And the locals love it, Ipswich resident Ian Meyer said the mural brightens up his daily walks.
“I love it, I’d like to see some more of them here in Ipswich.”
