The Cunningham Highway at Mt Edwards has reopened following its closure due to a motorcycle accident.
The single vehicle crash resulted in the rider, a 69-year-old Kalbar man, being airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Boonah Police report that the accident occurred at 11.15am on the highway about 200 metres on the Aratula side of the intersection with Lake Moogerah Road.
“Initially, traffic was allowed to flow through on an alternate basis, but when the Rescue 500 helicopter landed on the highway, the road was closed for about an hour.
“By the time the highway reopened at 12.45pm, the traffic was backed up to the Aratula township.
“As a result, the roadworks on the Mt Edwards section of the road were closed for a period to allow both lanes to be open and clear the backlog of traffic.”
Traffic is now flowing freely.
