A man has been charged for causing the horror three-way crash at a Warwick intersection last week in which an elderly Porsche driver died and his passenger was airlifted to hospital.
Police arrested the 22-year-old on Tuesday afternoon. He was expected to face court on the same day.
The young Warwick man was driving a Ford Falcon ute through the intersection of Myall Avenue and Wood Street just before 4pm last Monday.
The ute struck and flipped a Porsche, causing it to crash into a third car, a Holden Commodore sedan.
The 76-year-old Porsche driver, a local man, died at the scene. His 77-year-old passenger was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The driver of the Commodore, a 58-year-old Rosenthal Heights man, was deemed to have escaped significant injuries.
The ute driver was hospitalised and police spoke with him on the day. He was 21 at the time.
The 22-year-old ute driver faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and leaving scene without obtaining help, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and leaving scene without obtaining help.
Police said community assistance had been vital in making the arrest and are still appealing for information and dashcam footage.
