Fassifern’s outstanding netball carnival success

FASSIFERN Netball Association (FNA) players, coaches and officials are celebrating another wonderful achievement.

FNA was named overall winners of the latest Scenic Rim Challenge Carnival at Tamborine Mountain.

FNA sent seven teams to the annual carnival held last Sunday.

The carnival has been running for the past 11 years, bringing together the netball associations of Fassifern, Tamborine Mountain, Beechmont and Beaudesert.

Thirty-five teams competed last Sunday, ranging from ages 7/8 to open.

FNA official Sonya Gibson said Fassifern had “a cracking day on the court” being one of the smaller clubs competing.

In the 7/8 year division, Fassifern were winners and runners-up on the day.

Gibson acknowledged Zoe Krieg and Natalie Muhling for their efforts coaching and managing the team.

“It was so good to see the young players doing their best on the court,” Gibson said.

In the 9/10 year division, Charnai Anderson coached her team to a runner-up success.

Anderson also played in the Open division, which finished runners-up.

Fassifern entered teams in the remaining divisions - 11/12, 13/14, 15/17 years - facing stiff competition from their opposition.

“Their sportsmanship was impeccable and everyone tried their hardest,” Gibson said.

Other coaches who played valuable roles preparing their teams included Renee Mason, Katrina Brennan and association president Amanda Dover.

Fassifern took home the new perpetual trophy for their overall success.
