Boonah State High School has rescheduled the Formal to September 17, amid fears Covid-19 bans would mean seniors would not be able to participate in the street parade.
In a statement the school announced the change after getting advice from the Scenic Rim Regional Council and the state government.
“With all of the information considered we have decided to be pre-emptive in our decision making. Therefore the 2020 Formal will be postponed to 17 September.
“Of course this new date is also subject to the status of the pandemic at that time.”
Earlier the school announced the Formal parade would be cancelled, sending a letter out to parents about the decision.
2020 was set to be the first year the Formal would be held on April 2, to allow students to focus on their studies.
