C’ham Highway reopened after grocery truck fire

A truck fire led to the closure of the Cunningham Highway from the intersection with the Boonah Fassifern Road and Kengoon Road this morning. The highway reopened about 11am.

Sen Const Josh Piper from Kalbar Police said the truck’s rear trailer caught fire about 2.30am.

“They were able to save the truck but the trailer is burnt out and there is a big clean-up underway.”

The truck was carrying a load of groceries bound for Moree in Northern New South Wales.

“Police are asking drivers to take extra care on the Boonah Ipswich Road this morning as there will be extra traffic as motorists use it to divert around the closed section of the Highway.,” Sen Const Piper said.
