Drink driver sets a recent record in the Fassifern

A Labrador man set an unwanted record on Sunday when he was found to have a blood alcohol reading which was five times over the limit.

The man was breath tested after police were called to a two vehicle traffic crash on the Cunningham Highway at Mt Edwards at around 12 noon on.

“Upon arrival police spoke with the drivers of both vehicles and several witnesses who reported that one of the vehicles was driving erratically prior to the crash,” Boonah Police reported.

“A breath test on one of the drivers returned a positive high range reading.

“The driver, a 46-year-old Labrador man was detained and taken to the Boonah Station for further analysis.”

Following a breath test at the station, the driver was arrested and taken to Ipswich Watch House where he was bailed to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court in July.

“A reading of 0.223 will be alleged,” Boonah Police said.

“This is one of the highest readings in the area in recent record.”
