NSW Police, with the assistance of NSW Police Rescue and SES volunteers are now attempting to access the site from the ground, this will take some time as the site is located in very steep and rugged terrain.
The families of those on board are being kept appraised of the search efforts.
A search is currently underway for a light plane, which failed to arrive at the Boonah airport, yesterday afternoon.
The single engine aircraft left the Casino airport around 2pm and were expected to arrive in Boonah about an hour later.
