Fatality on Mt Barney
Sadly, Rathdowney Police were called to Mt Barney National Park in the vicinity of the Lower Portals at around 10.00am on Saturday, after a bushwalker fell and sustained fatal injuries.
The 32-year-old man fell from an area known as Leaning Peak. Initial reports suggest he lost his footing and fell to his death.
Queensland Fire & Emergency Services Technical Rescue crews, Auxiliary crews and SES teams as well as Ambulance officers were involved in the attempt to make their way in to where the fallen climber lay.
Teams from the Queensland Government Rescue 500 were called in on Sunday.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
Wallet stolen, Boonah
Boonah Police are investigating the theft of a wallet from an unlocked vehicle in Mary Street, Boonah between Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning, last week. The wallet contained a sum of cash and personal cards. If anyone has any information, they are requested to contact Boonah Police or Crime Stoppers.
Two car accident Peak Crossing
Harrisville Police are investigating a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Limestone Ridges Road, Peak Crossing at 8.15am last Thursday morning.
Initial reports indicate that the vehicles met on the crest of a hill and each was damaged through sideswiping. One of the vehicles was pushed into a culvert as a result of the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Two car accident Milbong
Emergency Services were called to a two-vehicle traffic crash on Ipswich Boonah Road, Milbong at around 6.30am on Friday.
Initial reports indicate that a vehicle travelling south swerved into the path of an oncoming vehicle to avoid colliding with the rear of another vehicle that was turning into a driveway. The conditions at the time were foggy and the road was wet. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
This is a timely reminder to people travelling in the early morning to be careful and drive to road conditions especially when conditions are foggy and visibility is poor.
Court
Officers from the Ipswich CIB executed a search warrant on a Boonah address at around 10.00am last Wednesday. As a result, a Boonah man, 44, was issued a Notice to Appear in Court for possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils. He is due to appear on August 5.
A Boonah man, 28,was issued a Notice to Appear in Court for unlicenced driving after he was intercepted driving a vehicle on Dover Street, Boonah at around 9.15pm on Saturday. Checks revealed his licence was demerit point suspended and due to that fact, the man had a previous Type 2 offence. The registration plates for the vehicle were seized and the vehicle immobilised for seven days. He is due to appear on August 4.
