The Boonah District Chamber of Commerce has cancelled the Boonah Meet the Candidates which was to be held on Wednesday night.

“We discussed the risks involved with the planned public meeting and have decided that it is in the best interests of all concerned to cancel the event,” said Chamber President, Bruce Trevena.

“We advised all the Mayoral and Division 5 candidates of the decision this morning (Tuesday).”

Bruce added that he knew a lot of people would be disappointed.

“We certainly made the decision with regret. The Chamber and the many people our executive have spoken with feel that forums like Meet the Candidates are a vital part of the local government election process.

“That’s why the Chamber was prepared to finance and organise this community service.”
