The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors of the newly elected Scenic Rim Regional Council following the March election, will be eligible for a pay rise.
On Monday, Councillors resolved to agree to the increase in annual salaries - in fact, they didn’t have a choice.
Salaries for elected members are set by the State Government appointed Local Government Remuneration Tribunal - each Council is assigned to a category and each category is assigned a pay rate for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors.
The Scenic Rim regional Council falls into Category 3 which means the annual salaries after the election will be:
• Mayor - $133,196
• Deputy Mayor - $83,247
• Councillor - $70,759
The new salary levels represent a two percent pay rise
