Recreation areas and on-water activities at Lakes Moogerah, Maroon and Wyaralong will be closed from Thursday.
It’s another tourism blow for the Fassifern as thousands of visitors flock to the lakes every Easter holidays.
But Seqwater CEO Neil Brennan said the recreation closures were needed to best protect staff safety and public health.
“All the lakes and parks managed by Seqwater will be closed in support of the decisions by the Commonwealth and Queensland governments to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
The closure of the three local dams means that all land and water-based recreation, including boating, skiing and fishing will be banned.
The Lake Moogerah Caravan and Camping Ground will only be allowed to accommodate caravans and motorhomes of Grey Nomad type travellers who are permanently travelling and don’t have a fixed address.
