The Boonah Barracudas came away with a number of personal best times from the Vorgee Brisbane Sprints during the weekend.

The first day kicked off with Millie O’Hanlon setting the standard for the weekend registering a new personal best for time in her 50 metre freestyle at 36.54 seconds.

Cadel Bennie continued the good run for the Barracudas coming away with a personal best in the 12 years boys 50 metre freestyle.

The personal bests continued in the boys 13 years 50 metre freestyle as Hunter Stanford broke the 34 second mark with a great swim, stopping the clock at 33.73.

The day came to an end with Cadel Bennie finishing with another personal best in the 50 metre breaststroke.

Day 2 started with Eli Bennie and Anna Brandon producing two outstanding swims and personal bests in the 14 years boys and girls 50 metre breaststroke with Anna beating her former personal best by 2.62 seconds.

Next up Basil Spillman and Gabrielle Wilson continued the swimmers’ fortune with both coming away with personal bests in the boys and girls 15 years backstroke.

The youngest Barracudas were on the blocks next with Quinn Phillips swimming at his first major carnival and producing a great first time swim and Nicholas Brandon gained his first personal best in the boys 10 years backstroke.

Both boys showed they have a great future ahead of them in the pool. Anna Brandon and Eli Bennie continued the trend for the Barracudas with great swims in the Boys and Girls 14 years 50m Butterfly with Anna bagging another personal best which brought her total to two for the day.

Nicholas Brandon finished his day with another great swim and personal best in the boys 10 years 50 metre freestyle.

The third session finished with 10-year-old Ruby Stanford gaining another personal best for the Boonah swim team in the 50 metre freestyle for 10-year-old girls.

The final session started with Eli Bennie kicking off with a great swim in the boys 14-years-old backstroke followed by Basil Spillman and Zach Bennie swimming sub 30 seconds in the boys 15 years 50 metre freestyle and for Basil it was his quickest time of the season at 28.79.

Gabrielle Wilson followed it up with a gusty and tough swim in the 15 years girls 50 metre freestyle coming in just outside her personal best.

Ruby Stanford continued to produce more great results for the team shaving off an outstanding 3.24 seconds from her personal best in the 10-year-old girls butterfly.

Anna Brandon finished her program with an awesome effort in the girls 14 years freestyle and a third personal best for the day.

The final swim of the day for the Barracudas saw Ruby Stanford come away with her third personal best for the day in the 50 metre breaststroke with a great swim at 51.88 which was a 2.84 second improvement.

The Barracudas are on the road again next Sunday when they head across to Beaudesert for the local derby.

Then it’s the big one the following weekend, the Queensland State Sprints.

We have 10 swimmers competing and for some swimmers it will be the first time at an event of this calibre.
