Boonah winners share in successful Open Day

FOUR home course golfers were among the major winners at the latest Boonah Ladies Golf Open Day.

Sixty-eight golfers from 20 clubs around Queensland accepted the challenge at the popular annual competition on a course in pristine condition.

The overall winner was Nina Masters from Goondiwindi.

She had a strong connection to Boonah, being the daughter of Richard and Julie Darvall.

Current Boonah club representative Sam Savery won the A-Grade title with past  president Bernice Dover finishing runner-up.

Susan Grace won the B-Grade event with club colleague Vicki Sampson taking C-Grade honours.

Boonah Golf Club official Linda Edwards said the course has an excellent reputation.

“The day is enjoyed because of the country hospitality displayed by members,” she said.

“The community benefits from the day as several visiting players stayed over for a couple of nights, spending time enjoying Boonah and tasting the fare available at our restaurants in the evenings.”

Open Day sponsors were Kalbar community Bendigo Bank, Drummond Golf, Anna’s Hair, Furniture Court, Maynard’s and John Krause MP.

Raffles were also donated by Southport Golf Club, local business,  Scott Bucholz MP and members of the Boonah club.

The next Boonah Ladies Day is scheduled for September 17, 2026.
