Dozen Boonah swimmers off to sprint champs
1 min read

A dozen of Boonah’s best young swimmers are off to Brisbane to compete in the 2020 sprint championships on February 1.

With just 50 members, many of them recreational, the Boonah Barracudas Swimming Club has fielded a strong team, ranging in age from 9- to 15-years-old.

The 12 swimmers have all qualified at carnivals over the past year.

Coach Michael Steepe said their training had been in full swing for a few months now and they were ready to take on some of the states finest swimmers in their age group.

“I hope they will do well, for many of them it has been a two year journey to get into the condition they are in now,” Mr Steppe said.

“This will be the first time for all of them to go to an event like this.

“The swimmers have been really professional and have fantastic attitudes towards their training.”

The next stop after the Brisbane Sprints is the 2020 Queensland Sprint Championships on February 15, where 10 of the Barracudas will compete.
