“Fantastic” experience for Barracudas talents
1 min read

FOUR promising Boonah Barracudas Club swimmers gained valuable experience and impressed at the latest Met West trials in Brisbane.

Grace Hunt, Griff Hayman and Sebastian Calle Service represented the Western Ranges team.

Griff's brother John, who attends Ipswich Grammar School, swam for the Central Comets.

Barracudas club president Ben Service was pleased to see the rising swimmers represent their zones.

“The kids swam really well,” Service said.

“It was Grace's first time swimming at Chandler pool at such a big event and a fantastic experience for her as it is highly likely she will be competing there in the state sprint championships next season.”

Ben's son Sebastian achieved a personal best in his favourite 100m breaststroke race, coming seventh overall.

The Hayman brothers both swam two second personal bests. Griff's best came in the 50m backstroke with John improving his times in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

“It is great to see so many swimmers from our small club pushing themselves and making it to this level of competition,” the club president said.

“With many young enthusiastic swimmers at the club I am sure there will be more to follow them in future years.”
