The Cunningham Highway was reopened after a truck and car collided north of Aratula on Sunday.

Three people are being treated for injuries following the collision near the intersection with E Stallman Road.

The highway is closed in both directions with diversions in place for light vehicles. The road is expected to remain closed for some time.

The accident happened about 11.05am and multiple emergency services crews and the rescue helicopter are still on site.

The three people being treated for injuries by critical care paramedics are a man in his 30s, a woman in her 30s and another woman of unknown age.

Police ask that motorists try and avoid the area if possible.
