Two fires to Ipswich's north and south

Firies are keeping an eye on multiple fires in Ipswich that began burning on Saturday.

A bushfire which began on Saturday, raged to the north of Ipswich at Pine Mountain.

The fire, which burned between Russells Road and Riverside Drive, to the north of H Bells Road, was contained and aerial support was called in to help contain the contain the blaze.

Multiple fire crews were at the scene on Sunday to monitor the situation. 

Another bushfire at Yamanto was contained during the afternoon after causing the closure of the Centenary Highway near Pisasale Drive.

The Highway was closed due to heavy smoke and the proximity of the fire.

By late afternoon, firefighters contained the bushfire and monitored it overnight for any flare ups. 

Water bombing aircraft were called in to assist with the fire.
