'We are facing challenging times': Sgt Boyce

Sgt Peter Boyce, Officer in Charge at Boonah Police, has highlighted the understanding and patience that he has witnessed from people in the Fassifern community as new measures are brought in to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“We are facing unprecedented and challenging times,” he said.

“But Boonah, Kalbar and Harrisville police are still out and about continuing their duties and working hard to keep the people of the Fassifern safe."

And he encouraged everyone to continue to look out for each other.

"I'm proud of our community for the kindness and compassion that is being shown to others."

The Queensland Police Service is supporting Queensland Health, which is the lead agency in the response.

"Police are working with other government agencies to take the necessary measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” Sgt Boyce said.

“Local police officers have a role in enforcing the new rules around business closures, physical distancing and border restrictions.

“We understand the disruption and devastation that many people in the community are experiencing and I can assure everyone that the compliance enforcement undertaken by police will be balanced with compassion and understanding.

"I want to thank everyone for their efforts and co-operation."
